Questioning Assumptions: insight from Babylonia 3/23 [Podcast]

The Swiss journal of language education, Babylonia, has published an issue entitled „Questioning assumptions“ and CeDiLE spoke to the editors Elisabeth Peyer (Institute for Multilingualism, Fribourg) and Laura Loder-Buechel (University of Teacher Education, Zurich). This podcast, in German and English, provides an overview of the content of this issue and some thoughts on the editorial process. Included here as well are some materials on beliefs about foreign language teaching that can be used in teacher training.

Living Languages at Museums, part II: insight from Babylonia 2/23 [Podcast]

Language learning at a museum? „Of course“ asserted Laura Loder-Büchel (PHZH) and Karine Lichtenauer (UNIGE) in a podcast to mark the release of Babylonia’s 2nd 2023 issue entitled „Living Languages at Museums“, the second issue on this topic. While the first issue offered a broad overview of work carried out on the subject around the world, this one focuses on concrete experiences that can be reused in language teaching in schools. Heritage languages in Switzerland : insight from Babylonia 1/23 [Podcast]

The maintenance of heritage languages among migrant children is an issue of growing international interest. To provide an overview of existing projects on this topic in Switzerland, the journal Babylonia is releasing an issue entitled „Heritage Languages in Switzerland“, co-edited by Verónica Sánchez Abchi (researcher at the IRDP in Neuchâtel and teacher at the IUFE in Geneva) and Amelia Lambelet (managing editor of Babylonia and visiting researcher at CUNY). In this podcast, the editors not only discuss the contributions of the issue but also share their thoughts on the editorial process.
